Re: GotVMail - Get an 800 Number! (Ok, so ours is an 866, but whatever) and a cheap fax!
Hi Elizabeth,
I have an 1-800 number from GotVMail (now called Grasshopper). It is a great service, costing me about $10 a month. When callers phone, I have the calls redirected to my cell phone so I can choose to answer the phone or redirect them to voice mail. They also offer a wealth of other options. Prior to having the GotVMail number, I had a subscription to MyFax.com which I dropped when I got my GotVMail as they offer incoming faxes. You can't send faxes with GotVmail, however, I rarely use outgoing faxes as I can always pdf whatever document I am sending and email it.
There are a number of companies out there offering similar services, I know quite a few VAs use Ring Central and have heard others use Kall8. There are a number of threads on this board discussing these services, you can do a search and read more.
Whatever you choose will end up being a matter of personal choice depending on what you intend on using the service for.
Good luck!

Hello,
Does anyone know of any of these services that offer Canadian telephone numbers?
I know that if you are virtual it really shouldn't matter, but I would prefer to have a Canadian area code.

I wanted a separate number, but since I'm just starting out I really didn't want any more expenses. I'm going to look into Onesuite Plus Fax though. Thank you.

This is a great thing to have. I was also wondering if an 800 number would be wise for me. It's definitely a great idea and a wonderful resource, I will be checking this out. Thanks.

I think Onesuite only offers local Canadian number or Toll Free number for its forwarding service. You can forward all your calls to your real Canadian number or Onesuite Fax number and it will automatically send it to your email.
I suggest though just to get a number closest where your senders will be sending their fax from, and you don't need Canadian number right?

If you use an online service, you don't necessarily spend more on a separate number because you will get a separate number (fax or voip) without an added cost.
In Onesuite's case, if you subscribe for their VoIP or online fax service, the monthly fee of $2.95 included a phone number/fax number with incoming calls/fax for free. If you don't send any fax then you only pay $2.95/month no matter how many faxes you received.
