awww no! I got so excited reading these posts and went to have a look at some more info re google voice only to discover that it's not offered outside of the US! I look forward to the day I can try it out!!

I do have one question if anyone knows regarding Google voice. I couldnt seem to get the answer off their website.
If you get a Google Voice number, are you able to have the calls forwarded to your cell phone?
That way my family, etc still uses my regular number but clients use my Google voice number?
But then I suppose when I call them back it would show my actual cell number on their caller ID instead?

Yes, you can set it up to always forward certain numbers to your home or cell or whatever number you want. Everything else stay on GV or be routed to some other #.

It's like a virtual call center, really.

Me too, Ann. I had a client recommend it and looked at it some time ago only to discover it is not offered in Canada.

I currently use Ringcentral and I have all my client calls forwarded to my cell phone. It looks like I can do the same with Google Voice and it's FREE! This is a very informative thread. What a great way to keep operating costs low!

That is an interesting thought.. setting up a google voice account to use strictly for clients to call in with dictation. Are there any limitations on the recording length?

I just signed up a couple of days ago! (still switching my numbers out so I haven't gotten totally familiar yet)

As @lavonjs, I'm also curious about what number shows up on caller id when you return calls to clients. I think I remember reading something about how to get around this. If I find it, I'll post it here.

Just got my Google voice account set up the other day. When going to place a call, my phone asks me if I want to place the call with or without Google voice. If I choose with, it shows up as my Google voice number on caller ID.
I'm excited to have it up and running! Now, just to get calls....

The only issue I've had lately is that I cannot seem to call web conferencing numbers through Google Voice. This didn't happen, say, a month ago. Now I get an error message saying "Can't Complete Call." I haven't received a response from Google Support yet. Anyone else experiencing this?
