Thank you for explaining the difference between the two and how they work. I really appreciate it.

I've requested an invite from Google, I'm very excited to give this a try! I don't have a landline phone and don't see getting one for my business. I'd love to have Google Voice forwarded to my cell and voila!

Thanks to everyone for the reviews and tips regarding Google Voice!

Cheers,

I just saw this message. Do you still need a Google invite? I have one left.

Those who requested an invite from Google, how long till Google send an invite? A friend needs to know because its been a month and he's still waiting from Google to send him one.

I had Google voice (sorry I don't have anymore invites) and actually deactivated it because I had one too many occasions where I did not receive voicemails. Plus, I signed up for the Google voice feature to convert voicemails into text and found this feature to be way off (Grasshopper does a better job). I'm not sure if Google voice did not work for me because of my carrier (Sprint) or my phone Palm Pre, but I didn't have a good experience using Google voice. Has anyone else had this problem?

I've had GV since before Google acquired Grand Central. I haven't had the issues you speak of, so I don't know if that was an unexpected result of the acquisition they hadn't worked out?

OTOH, I *love* my GV. I'm sorry those were your experiences.

Hello Everyone
Haven't visited for awhile, I have been extremely busy. About Google voice, I have two numbers, because I have two Google email accounts. If you check my website you'll see that one number is a afterhours voicemail. Also I use it a lot on Fridays, because it Free Consultation day at my company. I forward the call I am making to my home phone and I free up my 800 number and my office phone for usage by other in the office. On the person phone I called, caller ID is the Google number. Also I send a lot of text messages with this feature to my clients. The number is publicized, my clients know it's me because I sign the message. Don't have to use my cell to text while I am in my office and this is free.

Also I send text message for my clients to their clients, at the end of the text I sign my clients name. The features in Google voice are cool, it's what you do with it that will make it an essential tool in your business.
I hope this helps anyone with their decision to use this service.

Hello Rhonda, I have Skype, Ringcentral and Google voice all running on my computer, I have no problems

I am in need of a Google Voice invite if anybody has one to spare. I will be scheduling appointments for a client and it would be great if I could go that extra mile by retrieving emails and returning phone calls.

I sent a request for an invite and so did my client, but neither of us have been invited yet.

Thanks

I have been using Google voice for a long time. I love the fact that you have a 'business' number (which I have set to a custom ringtone - that way the family knows to BE QUIET when they hear it) without having the expense of another line.
