About a week ago I tried to sign up for Google Voice but apparently there is a delay. I'm still waiting for an invite

I'd love to be able to use GoogleVoice (as I'm a general google product fan), but it's not yet available in Canada.....

Too bad

Crystal, I see that you're in the Philippines. Hopefully Google Voice will expand to more countries.

Did you get an invite yet? If you provide your gmail address, I'll send you one.

Wow, i just heard about google voice through here. Pity it's only available to the US at the moment. Hopefully it expands across the world soon. Just out of curiousity, how is google voice different from Skype and is it any better?

Hey everyone, I was wondering if you had any Google Voice invites and would be willing to let me have one. It would be greatly appreciated and if you want an invite back I will give you one once I get an account. Thanks in advance!

How did you do this? Great Idea..

I am using the free service through Skype, but I only signed up it for a few days ago and have not received any calls on it. I have made a couple to test it out and it seems to do okay. I will have to check out Google voice, but if you are using more than one system on your computer will they interefere with each other.

Google Voice is actually just a "forwarding service". You need another source (phone, softphone, voip service) to use it. Unlike Skype where there is a Skype phone or Skype application in your computer.

With Google Voice, there's no Google softphone. But you'll get a US number and you can set it up so when someone called your Google Voice number, it will forwarded to the number of your choice.

You can make free calls to any US or Canadian number too BUT again you need another US phone number (landline, voip) where you will make your call. Because the process is, you call your Google Voice number then punch in your code and then call your destination number.

With Skype, you can only call another Skype user for free...because calling a mobile phone or landline will cost you.
