Google Voice
Hello there,
I just signed up with google voice and I am planning to use for my va business, has anyone been using google voice? If so what is the feedback? So, far I have recorded my business greetings. It sounds pretty good and the call quality is good.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

Re: Google Voice
Hi Ivette,
I just got mine a few days ago and I agree that the call quality is good.
One advantage over Skype is that you can take and make calls from any phone you assign.
Let's hope the quality remains because I just ordered some business cards with my new Google number!
Can't wait to get more feedback from other VAs

Re: Google Voice
I use google voice and one thing I did was to create a vanity number which was easier to remember. I always wanted a vanity number but the ph company charged too much. so I use ##-Wizard4U to match my company name, (not sure about posting ph numbers here so I blanked it out) and now even I can remember it.
I used K7.net for a month and the company canceled the number even though I called it one time per month (required...I don't get many calls) and I foolishly had business cards printed with it. Sheesh...
But the google voice has been great. I highly recommend it.
Janine
PS There were some complaints a few weeks ago where Google voice messages were being indexed and showing up in search engine searches. Here But I understand this has been corrected.

Re: Google Voice
I've used Google voice for a few months now and it's an awesome phone system! I have business cards with the phone number printed on it and I'm pretty sure it will be a resource that more VA's will use in the future.

Re: Google Voice
I am also using Google Voice and enjoying it.
- I like that voice mail messages are translated & sent to you as text & email messages.
- You can put contacts in a group and record a separate message for them
- You can set it up to send certain contacts directly to voice mail
- You can send text messages directly from computer with no extra charges
- When you dial your Google voice # from phone, system asks you if you want to place a call and when you do, caller id shows your Google Voice #
- International rates are beyond reasonable. I have a friend in Germany and it's only 2 cents a minutes to call a land line!
- There is a widget you can put on your website, allowing visitors to call right away
There are more features and benefits of Google Voice. It is great for a business phone.

Hello Gennia,
I agree with you about Google Voice, but I did not know about the widget, can you tell me where I can find so that I can put it on my website?
Thanks.

Re: Google Voice
Great thread. I've been curious about Google Voice. I just applied for an invite, so I hope I get one! (Unless someone has an invite they are willing to share!) :-)

Re: Google Voice
Ivette and Janine,
For call widget, go to "settings" and one of the tabs is "call widgets". Just copy the code and insert in your web page.
Hope that helps.

Re: Google Voice
I use it as my AfterHours voicemail, it's operational from 5:30 pm to 11:45 pm, Monday to Friday. I check it 45 minutes to the hour.
Since I live on the East Coast and sometime I may have a customer on the West Coast or in Mountain time. I don't want them to feel left out.
Also I use it on Friday's for my Consultation Day. Anyone that didn't reserve their appoinment on Friday, call my office number which is transferred to Google Voice through my ring Central 800 number and I have left instruction on that number only for Fridays. I am not disturb while I am interviewing new clients or disgusting with my client their projects. I did it that way because my 800 number runs on minutes and by tranferring the number the minutes are not used. I have created 3 personalize greeting.

Re: Google Voice
I tried to set up a vanity number on Google Voice, but it wasn't available. :-( Not a big deal, but it would have been fun. Right now I only have a cell phone so everything goes to it while I make a decision on a land line. The best thing is that if I decide to change my mind once I do make a land line decision, I won't have to reprint my business cards and brochures. As previously stated by others, I hope this remains as good as it is now because it has saved me a lot of trouble!
Thanks for sharing about the widget. I'm just starting to work on my website and that will come in VERY handy!

Re: Google Voice
I also signed up with google voice for my nonprofit and it works like a charm. I added the widget to my website as well. I would highly recommend it. Here's a link to the page with my widget on it. http://seniorwayhousing.org/Contact_Us.html
