Godin's Email Checklist - things to consider before you click 'SEND'
Kind of a sidebar off of a vent I had a few days ago called Overkill I found today's post at Seth Goodin blog pretty funny! It is a check list of things to consider BEFORE you click send. Not only can some of the things on this list keep you from wasting someone else's time + if you keep it in mind WHILE you type you might save some time of your own = Positive Productivity!
The high notes... (aka, my favorites)
#12 If it is a cold-call email, and I'm sure it's welcome, and I'm sure it's not spam, then don't apologize. If I need to apologize, then yes, it's spam, and I'll get the brand-hurt I deserve. (Hmmm, "brand-hurt"? Kinda like overkill, huh?)
#21 Could this email be shorter? (Even if I am an extravert! :p)
#26 Am I forwarding someone else's mail? If so, will they be happy when they find out?
#31 If this email is to someone like Seth, did I check to make sure I know the difference between its and it's? Just wondering.
#36 If I had to pay 42 cents to send this email, would I? Funny how the whole world lines up with the things we talk about at VAF...big things like apostrophes and the cost of postage!
Make it a great day!
