Email management - Outlook? Something else?
I just set up my email address @mydomain, and I am wondering now what I need to do. The cpanel of my hosting is asking if I want to use outlook, and I am not sure what will work best.
How do you handle your email? Do you use outlook or something similar?
Thanks so much for any input!

Re: Email management - Outlook? Something else?
I use Outlook for all my accounts, including clients. I like Outlook and there I have set up all my rules, folders and signatures for each account. You can use whichever program works best for you and it is a personal preference thing.

Re: Email management - Outlook? Something else?
I do the same as Lee, and use Outlook (not Outlook Express) for all my accounts, including clients, too. I also have MS Office OneNote and can "Send to OneNote" emails from Outlook to areas specifically setup for clients there.
HTH a bit,

Re: Email management - Outlook? Something else?
I have my @domain emails forwarded to my Gmail account with incoming labels so I know which account they come from. That way I can access from any computer. The replies also go out as @domain, not @gmail. Gmail doesn't have as many options as Outlook, though. Like Lee said, it is a personal preference and depends on what you need from the email part...

Re: Email management - Outlook? Something else?
I use gmail for all of my accounts and love it! I switched from outlook to have access to my email anywhere and because outlook was just getting slow & difficult. I also use google calendar. I have become a huge fan of gmail

Re: Email management - Outlook? Something else?
Thanks so much for your input! I wasn't sure if some of you still used & liked Outlook since MS has replaced it with LiveMail. And I hadn't looked into the features of Gmail. Thanks again, I will be looking into both.

Re: Email management - Outlook? Something else?
I have gmail for my biz account and outlook for some of my client's accounts.
I am a HUGE fan of gmail because I can easily direct mail and check my email online anywhere. Google calendar is great b/c it is easy to set up for my blackberry and itouch.
In fact, I was thinking of getting a google apps account for my biz soon.
If you do go with Outlook, I'd strongly suggest paying for it, rather than just getting Express.

Just to clarify: You're talking about Outlook Express, not Outlook the full paid version that usually comes with the MS Office Suite of programs (or you can purchase separately). I use the full version, not Express.

Re: Email management - Outlook? Something else?
I don't use Outlook or any email reading/forwarding programs any more, it just added a layer of cumbersome I don't need. My web host has a "desk top notifier" I downloaded to my computer that lets me preview emails as soon as they come in through my domains. I can just click the message to go to the web based email service and answer from my desk top. Or I can log in to the service from anywhere and read and respond. Outlook, etc. don't need this stuff anymore!

Re: Email management - Outlook? Something else?
I recently switched from Outlook (full version) to Gmail. I also have made use of labels and filters and find that I am much happier and much more organized.
