Email change using OUTLOOK EXPRESS
Help! We changed our ISP and HAD 30 days to change our prior email subscriptions, etc. We'll our OLD ISP cancelled our service TODAY! We've paid til the end of the month, so what's their problem! IDK, but in the mean time, while I hope they re-up it at least til the 30th, can someone tell me how to put an auto reply (in outlook express) to incoming emails that I can state we will be using a new email address?

I'm in a hurry and am probably over looking it in the tools section.

Thank you for your help!

Robin

Then specify your conditions.

I think this would only work when you have Outlook Express Open and running, so if you turn off Outlook Express it would not work.

Can you set up a forwarding with your current ISP? Or maybe an "Alias" with your new ISP?

Let me know if you have any more questions.
Sue

Hi Sue, They (the old ISP) said a forward wouldn't work??? I remember when I was going on vacation, I could put an auto reply to all incoming email to say, XY & Z. So I would put that my email has changed. Thanks for your reply!

Yes, but...They did reverse the closed account and allowed me back to where I can use the email, so I can pick and choose who I need to let know that my email has changed. Now you know why I switched companies....they just don't get it!

Sue had good information. Only forwarding is available in Outlook Express. I verified that from quoting Microsoft's website, "The Out Of Office Assistant is not available in Outlook Express. You may be able to duplicate its functionality by applying message rules."

The site continues, "The Out of Office Assistant is a feature of Microsoft Outlook that enables you to automatically reply to e-mail messages from people who send you mail when you are not available. Outlook Express does not have this functionality. To simulate the functionality of an Out of Office Assistant in Outlook Express you must first create an out of office message, and then an out of office rule. Additionally, it is important to remember that this function only works while Outlook Express is running and logged on to the e-mail server."

Good luck with email issues. Such a pain!

Thank you Janine! I will definitely give this a try. I have a HUGE list of contacts to make these changes, but my biggest issue is with Google. I'm thinking I need to cancel my two groups I belong two and then re-sign up. I keep emailing support to no avail. The issue is that it won't let me make my new email address the primary email - no matter what I do. Prior to this email change, it had been over 10 years since I had to do this before....it took me three months to update everything back then! Thank you again for all your suggestions. Happy weekend!
