Hello Everyone!

Regarding the eFax, I think I will pick up the free service. I also do not use faxing that often, but having a free, unattached number to receive faxes would work great for me. Besides, I have a physical fax machine in my office for sending faxes. It is just that I would have to utilize a phone number that is also used for another purpose. So this works perfectly for me. Have the free eFax for all incoming and my physical fax for any outgoing.

Thanks for the tips!

Okay, I thought I attached the link, but I didn't. I do apologize. This is the link --- http://www.callwave.com/landing/mobileVisualVoicemail.asp Additionally, I believe they had a free trial.

Elaine, be sure to check out our industry directory - it's not only a listing of individual virtual assistant business sites but has an entire section of resources for VAs (most of which are totally free!)

If you can't get a local number, does that mean your client will pay to send a long distance fax? I think I will investigate anyway because I feel incomplete as a business person when I have to say I don't have a fax number! It's all about perception out there!! Thanks for the tips. Will be checking out the industry resources links too!

Yes, your client will have to pay long distance to send the fax if it is not in their area. Most of my clients are all over the country, so they would have to send it long distance anyway.

I used efax for quite a while. Then I started getting too many faxes, and they sent me a message saying I'd have to upgrade or risk losing my number.

If you have to upgrade, I suggest using MyFax because I think their paid plan is better and costs less than efax. (But efax certainly is the company of choice for a free plan as long as you don't receive too many faxes). MyFax's plans start at only $10 a month and include a generous amount of outgoing faxes as well.

Okay... now I'm confused again... is Efax similiar to Ringcentral? Should I have both systems available to me or just one of them?
Also, what about having voicemail availabiity??? I'm beginning to hyperventilate!

e-Fax is great and very beneficial. The faxes come directly to your email, allowing you to receive information faster. It also saves paper because you can view faxes on the computer and print them only if necessary. It is also inexpensive and a great modern way of receiving faxes without having to deal with a land line.

Hello all,

This has been a very interesting and useful discussion. I found a resource regarding most of the fax service providers already mentioned. It is comparison chart from the OneSuite website. The chart compares the following providers side by side: OneSuite, Efax, RingCentral, Myfax, Callwave and Trustfax. It may make it a little easier for some in their final decision.

Thanks for all the great comments.

Tahneesha, thanks for posting this, it will help me decide.

I have my own fax in my office, which is starting to jam up a lot lately and give me problems. I always preferred a dedicated fax (only because I use it for personal things too)....but I also like the features with digital faxing. I would like to get rid of my long distance calling with Verizon but I can't since I need it for faxing. But with the digital faxing then I could.

I am so excited. I finally get to post some useful information of my own.

My husband and I have Vonage for our home phone. I have been looking at a couple different package options for my business. (You need to have high speed internet for Vonage phone service - we have Charter). We currently pay between $30 - $31 a month for residential unlimited local and unlimted long distance calling. (Way better than Verizon!) Plus when we moved we did not have to change our number. You can even select your own local number if you want. You can also sign up for a 800 number so your family and friends can call you for free.

They have a couple different options for fax service.

Check it out.

I use Ring Central for my business number and my faxing. I love it!! I had way too many issues/concerns with Efax.

I used to have an eFax number, and recently got a new one. They are fabulous for most things. If I were doing anything that needed to be more confidential? I would likely do something different, but.....its a great service that I have been very happy with.
