eFax - We use the free version in our office to receive faxes at our own U.S. based 'fax number'. All incoming faxes are delivered to our email inbox and open easily with the free eFax reader. Also saves on paper, office space, and the cost of another phone line.

I've had this one set up on my computer for a while as well. I use it to receive faxes but don't like to pay to send. It's a great program. Anyway I think they've pretty much cornered the market, I don't even know of any other free fax options online.

Agreed

We actually used the paid service for a while at a client's behest but the small number of faxes we need to *send* just didn't warrant the price, especially when they raised the price an extra $5 per month.
The rare times we need to fax we just go to the local fax place, where ever we happen to be in the world

Even from way over on the other side of the planet it only costs a dollar a pop to fax the States.

I use two different services for IN faxing and OUT faxing both of which are free. For IN faxing I use FaxDigits.com and for OUT faxing, I use Faxzero.com which lets you send six pages free daily and 15 pages for 1.99. I do not use faxing a lot and do not anticipate on using it a lot so a free service and number is great. I also heard that if you have an eFax number and you receive more than 20 faxes daily that you are forced to upgrade...correct me if I am wrong! Ciao!

Makesha, thanks so much for the free out-faxing option - I had no idea such a thing existed and will check it out immediately! What a lifesaver.

I've never rec'd more than a few faxes in any given day so am not sure about the mandatory upgrade but I wouldn't be shocked if it's true...

I've been paying the monthly fee for E-Fax and didn't realize there was a free service! I know I'm going to be re-looking at why I didn't sign up for the free vs the paid!!

I have just signed up with FaxDigits. My only concern is i didn't get my area code 860, but hey if its free...i can't complain!

Yes, it's the same with eFax (you can pay to choose an area code) but I figure since we're out of the country anyway that doesn't much matter for now

Free is a wonderful option!

Free is great!

The only things i'm paying for right now are my REPA certification and an ad in my local news paper. I would have held off on the certification, but i believe it would increase my credibility in my niche.

I don't anticipate sending many faxes, I will attach to email, however, I did sign up for the free in coming fax number. I too wish that a local number was available, but beggar's can't be choosers. Thank you for the heads up on these. It will be great while I decide on a permanent fax server.

I've been using CallWave. It costs approximately $48 per year. That's only $4 per month. The reason I chose CallWave was because of the Notary Signing Agent business. This way the title company could fax me any last minute changes. Finally, I have a standalone fax machine which I use to fax documents out.

With CallWave you are able to have a phone number and a fax number. The phone number can ring at my cell or home number. Additionally, I use this number to give to clients, and other business contacts. This way I don't have to have a 2nd phone line in my house. When I was searching for free fax, I could only receive may be 10 pages. This wasn't good for the business.

How many faxes per month can you send/rec'v with Callwave? I didn't realize they had fax services!

I used Callwave years ago when it first came out - it was in the age of dialup and their product was an answerphone that would pick up at your home number while you were online so your home line wouldn't ring busy. I loved that service and it was totally free.

Tess, here's the website . I hope this link works. When I first was introduced to Callwave, I did the quaterly pricing. which was approximately 21.95 per month. I didn't think to ask regarding a yearly fee, but when I realized they had yearly plans, I made sure they debited my account for the year. You can receive unlimited faxes. You receive a fax number and a phone number with the plan I use. Again, I send faxes from the standalone machine I've had for the past 7 years. I really don't send many faxes.
