Default Comparison of Email Management Systems
I'm researching email management systems for a client who has thousands of subscribers and wants to migrate them all to a new system. I know about several and have used several. But I'd like anyone's opinions on what they use and why. We know about iContact, Aweber, Constant Contact, and My Emma. Has anyone ever used My Emma? What about Omni Star?

Your opinions are appreciated!

Hi Sue,

I have never heard of MyEmma and really enjoyed reading about the company. The only downside with them is they charge a setup fee, which can be costly for small businesses.

If you and your client are still in the market, I would try MailChimp. They have a list of features and their pricing is based either monthly or pay as you go. Again, this is useful for the small business owner who wants to avoid unnecessary costs.

Thank you Erika. I did hear about MailChimp and would be willing to check into it further for the future. My client did decide to go with MyEmma. He has a huge list, over 5000, and plans on expanding to over 10,000 this year and probably 100,000 sooner than later.

So the setup cost for him was reasonable. He loved their customer service and the fact that they could match his emails so closely to his website (one of the reasons why they have the setup cost because they can tailor it so closely).

I've used MyEmma in the past with another client and was very, very happy. I'm very excited to be working with a client again that is using MyEmma. This client had already spent in one month with another company what MyEmma's setup fee was due to the way they counted subscribers. So he's very happy.

Thanks for your input.

We have always used (and love) VerticalResponse for the flexibility in utilizing custom designed newsletter templates. The email management portion is also exceptionally flexible - you can parse sent-to lists based on who clicked on what, etc. AND you don't have to pay a monthly fee, just one credit per email sent (and no charges for bounces, etc.) Definitely worth looking into.

Wacko Re: Comparison of Email Management Systems
Thanks Erika for the information on Mail Chimp. I had never heard of them. I just signed up for their Free service which will do for now. The Pay As You Go option is a great idea too. They seem to have the least expensive monthly plan of all the Email Marketing companies that I have looked into. I hope their service is as good as their price. I guess time will tell.
