Blackberry owners - which model do you have, and what are your likes & dislikes?
Hi,
I am trying to decide which Blackberry to get and wonder if Blackberry owners could simply answer the following three questions:
1) Which model do you have?
2) What do you like most about the model you have?
3) What do you like least about it?
Many thanks,
Sharon

Re: Blackberry owners - which model do you have, and what are your likes & dislikes?
I just picked up the Blackberry Pearl 8130 Smartphone last week, and have to say I am loving it. I am still working my way through finding out all the bells and whistles, but for the basic needs I have right now, it is fabulous.
If I had one "complaint" it is that the user manual isn't as clearly laid out as I think it should be. Maybe it's the user and not the manual? LOL.

The user manual is my main complaint against my Blackberry too. I have one of the vintage 8700 series BBs and refuse to upgrade. Even though its clunky, I love the big screen and useable keys. One of my techs has a BB smartphone and he is always complaining about the keys. This thing I don't like about it is its a leash to my day job even on my days off and vacations.

Hi Sharon,
I am a newbie Blackberry owner (Curve 8300) as my latest Treo bit the dust and my provider doesn't carry the Palm anymore. While I have only had it for 2 weeks, I am really starting to like it. The best thing about it is the email integration and what I like least about it is the lack of a touchscreen, which Palm has had for years. Good luck and enjoy the shopping!

Re: Blackberry owners - which model do you have, and what are your likes & dislikes?
I have a Blackberry Curve 8200. I love this phone. My favorite feature is the passoword keeper. It allows me to keep track of all my passowords and the good thing about it is that if someone gets my phone and trys unsuccessfully to unlock password keeper, after after 10 trys, Blackberry erases all the stored passwords. The thing I like least is the fact that applications for the phone are limited but Blackberry just came out with Blackberry Apps which gives me a lot more applications for the phone.
I recommend a blackberry to anyone who asks my opinion.

Re: Blackberry owners - which model do you have, and what are your likes & dislikes?
I have had the Blackberry Pearl 8130 for about 1.5 years. I like the size of it and don't mind using the smart keys. I can synch my contact list and calendar from my Outlook program and keep in touch when I am away from my office. I can listen to my tunes and it also takes great pictures but I have the media card which gives me more memory.
What I like least, it is slippery and I have a SKIN for it which keep it from sliding. Also learn the shortcut keys, the trackball gets worn out first.

Re: Blackberry owners - which model do you have, and what are your likes & dislikes?
I have this phone, the 8310:
It's better than a my former Razr for emailing and Twitterberry is okay, but no matter what cord or computer I use, I can't get it to "talk" to my computer. And I never could set up the email on it. I have my sights set on an iPhone because I'm an apple girl at heart. I'm pretty techy and I just don't find it very user friendly.
I have the GMail client, though, and that's good, and I can post to snopes when I'm in line and stuff, so that's good too.
I also have a skin- Underworld by Gelaskins.

I have a Curve 8310 as well. For the most part, I love my phone. Even though I'm sure I'm only using it at 60% of what its capable of.
1) Which model do you have?
Curve 8310 (The RED one)
2) What do you like most about the model you have?
Oddly enough, the keyboard
3) What do you like least about it?
No 3G

That was another thing I love about the Blackberry, how easy it was to set up the email accounts. With all my Palms, it was fairly convoluted, a lot like setting up your Outlook, but with this BB, all I had to do was enter email addresses and passwords and whoosh, voila, all my email accounts were automatically set up. No entering SMTP or IMAP settings.
One thing I did discover KA that might be of help was my Blackberry wasn't fully registered with the Blackberry Internet and that prevented my accessing some neat features. I don't know if this is of any help, but here is what I did: Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table
Press menu > Register Now

When I did my syncing setup, I also encountered problems and ended up fixing that issue by temporarily disabling my virus software and was able to do an install after that.
Hope that helps!
