Best Webmail Options
Hello,
What is your favorite Webmail website? I work on a MAC and have been using Roundcube thus far but am not happy with it. When I send e-mails as text, the horizontal scrolling goes on forever.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Re: Best Webmail Options
As a PC user since time immemorial, I'm just assuming that your "Webmail" definition and mine are the same, lol!
I've used SquirrelMail to access my biz email on the run. It's one of three options provided by my host, HostGator.
But now I use Gmail/Google Apps for all my email. With traveling around and being "virtual" so much, it's helped to have my email "in the cloud" so to speak.
I currently use Google Apps for Business, and have all my email brought in to the Email portion (basically the same as the basic Gmail, but branded for me).
LOVE Gmail's options, and learning to live without Outlook was surprisingly easy. ;-)

Re: Best Webmail Options
Another Gmail fan here! I've had a personal address on there for 4 years now, and I now use it to import my business accounts as well as a couple of client accounts I keep up with. So far it is working very well for me.
As far as the horizontal scrolling goes - is there anything in your settings that you could change to fix that? I've never used Roundcube, so I don't know, but it might be worth trying if you are otherwise happy with it.
Good luck!
Gladys

Re: Best Webmail Options
Quick and easy, Gmail and Google Apps the way to go. I love to how Google Apps is incorporating more and more integration with other online applications, makes it easy for me access all of my online applications.

Re: Best Webmail Options
Thanks everybody. I have several domains with associated e-mails - is it possible to get them all through Google business apps?
I did contact RoundCube and they weren't able to change any settings to stop the horizontal scrolling.
Warmly, Kim

Re: Best Webmail Options
Kim -
Yes, you can. There are a few ways to do it; here's what I'm doing right now.
I have a domain that I'm not really using yet (my name). I have that domain associated with Google Apps. Then, I have my mail server through my host forward all my mail to that one address. In Google Apps, under the "Gmail" utility, I then go to "Settings" and "Accounts", and add my addresses as "From" addresses.
This works just fine for me! I do know that some email servers have some security settings that don't play nice with using the "From" option I just mentioned. I had that with an email I used for one client, and had to use Outlook just for them. But I could receive the emails just fine; I had to use Outlook only for sending.
You can also set up Google Apps for each domain you have, but since (as far as I know of) the only way to link them is "manually" as mentioned above, it's not really practical.
Google has some great step-by-step instructions for setting up your domain with them. Of course, those of us who have done it can always lend a hand too!

Re: Best Webmail Options
I love gmail! I have my business email forwarded to there, and sync gmail with Outlook. Unfortunately with outlook you can't "send from" as you can with gmail on the web. My work around for that is to set up my business email account in outlook, but not to set up the incoming settings, just outgoing.
It's working out great and I've set up a few client's emails to work in the same fashion. I love that it syncs up and the client can log onto gmail and figure out where I left off, if needed.

Re: Best Webmail Options
I am a huge fan of anything Google so of course my suggestion would be Gmail! I know most people aren't crazy about the fact that they don't have the option to sort mail using folders, however I find their labels system to work just as well, if not better.

Re: Best Webmail Options
I love the labels aspects of Gmail, and now that you can Nest the labels it works just like folders in my opinion and the search function with Gmail is great so it makes it easy to find clients emails.
Like many others I have my "biz" email(s) all running through Google Apps and am also going to have my blackberry set up to run on an enterprise server service which you can get through the Google Apps Market Place. I also have many of my own applications that I use connected through my Google Apps account so it makes it fast and quick for me to get where I need to.
I also use Google Chrome and I love their Application short cut feature which allows me to have my Google App email set up as it's own "application" on my desktop - this simply means that I can access my email via the start menu or task bar like I would with Outlook, I have my calendar set up the same way and I'm quickly transitioning all of my docs to Google (with a redundant back up in Sugar Sync) and with Google Apps you can use Mimeo to sync your documents across computers and it's only $9 per user for a year! Can't beat that!
If you haven't guessed I'm a bit of a google fan
