I have an associate who used Square on a regular basis until recently. He mentioned that there was a great potential for security risk. I did a bit of research and found the following article: http://mashable.com/2011/03/09/verifone-square-recall/

I have canceled my square account for the time being due to the potential of risk.

I wouldn't believe everything you read.

Here is Square's response: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/tech...rd-reader.html

and a non-biased article, too. http://gizmodo.com/5780274/is-the-sq...ting-to-happen

I received my free reader a few weeks ago and have been using the service. It's very convenient for myself and for those clients of mine that want to use their card. Even if you don't have the card, you can input the card number and it works as well!!!

I got notification from Square on 10/10/11 saying:

Starting immediately, businesses that swipe credit cards with Square will have all their funds sent to their bank for deposit the next day. In the past, if a business processed over $1,000 in payments with Square in a given week, those funds were briefly held prior to being sent for deposit. Now, we’ve removed that delay.

I think this is awesome!!! (Haven't hit that limit yet but there is always hope!! LOL)

I too have the reader - I recommended to a friend for their business and they have been happy with it. My daughters' school PTO is going to be using the devise as well as soon as it arrives. The fact that the service is provided without a monthly subscription fee is what caught mine and my colleagues attention. I also got the email stating the $1000 limit had been lifted - and tho I have yet to reach that amount in a week, I hope to sooner than later
Thanks for the notes on this device!

I've read about this amazing app, but unfortunately, it's not yet available here in Canada.
