possible paypal alternative?
Has anyone heard of this: Revolution Money Exchange? I saw a banner for it just now on msn and thought I'd ask if anyone has tried it. It says it is free to register, request, send, receive and transfer money.

Re: possible paypal alternative?
I've never heard of it, sorry!
I find it so interesting there is so much talk on the board these days of finding an alternative to Paypal...
In any case, this is what I could find on them after a quick search, I hope it helps!
"you’ll have to submit your Social Security Number to verify your identity, so I had to do a little digging first. According to this article in American Banker, it is backed by Citi, Morgan Stanley, and Deutsche Bank AG, which participated in a $50 million venture capital round. The parent company was formed by bajillionaire Steve Case, co-founder and former CEO of AOL, and the son of the former CEO of Mastercard. Also mentioned in USA Today."
Source link.
"Revolution Money Exchange is similar to PayPal and they are offering new members $25 just for joining their site. If you submit your bank account information, you can have funds directly deposited for FREE! I chose not to give that information and requested a check instead. There was a $2.50 processing fee...so instead of $25 I got a check for $22.50. It arrived in less that a week!
You can also get $10 for each referral who signs up under you. So far, I have gotten 7 referrals and a check for $67.50 because of the $2.50 processing fee! How cool is that? And that check also arrived in less than a week!"

Re: possible paypal alternative?
Hi Sundi,
One of my clients posted a blog entry about alternatives to PayPal and here is a link to the CNN article outlining the top 5.
5 PayPal Alternatives
Just as aside, I have tried AlertPay as one of my clients used it and I have had no problems with it. Hope it helps!

Re: possible paypal alternative?
I have a PayPal account and I don’t even use it, but I use my www.propay.com account the most. I used MS Office Accounting 2007 for all my accounting needs and I taught it was a bonus that I was able to use PayPal. However, I would have to set up additional business account and pay the $19.99 monthly fee.
I have to say I like using www.propay.com better, I am able to get phone approval and online approval right a way.

I checked out www.propay.com and I like what I heard and read on their website. This is the best one yet. I have two (2) additional sites to check out before I make my decision. I like the yearly fee option instead of the monthly. So far this looks like the best alternative payment solution to paypal for me and my company. Thank you.

Re: possible paypal alternative?
I looked into PayPal myself, but found the rates too high for my liking (I'm cheap!). I'm not sure about the US, but in Canada, especially the Scotiabank, you can send mail through email. As long as you have the receiving person's email, and provide a security question that the other will know, you can transfer money (any amount) for $1.50. I have used it to pay and receive money.

I also looked at Pro Pay and I will use this for my business. I feel, just starting my business, I don't want to saddle myself with unnecessary fees. I like keeping it simple.

Re: possible paypal alternative?
I hope it works for you. It doesn't do much, but I like them. The price is in my budget. Actually someone at my former job introduce them to me. I switch to just the basic with VISA/Mastercard (i never got an amex or discover since I've been with them). However, the company has been growing.
