Re: Payment Options
This, as in most, is a great thread!
I have just a plain ol cell phone -- can you do it with this? i.e. 'square' or some other?
I have paypal set up but have never used
I had one client who was a large company and did direct deposit
Most have been checks when they were local (not VA clients)
We just got Motor Home and have set up our office there so opened a Bank of America account as in different states - found out can do transfers from other accounts (even other banks) to mine... I am also offering this as an alternative
Watching here avidly as have just left all on-site clients in Illinois and and have set up presently in Las Vegas NV

Re: Payment Options
They're two other options I have found besides, Paypal, Google Check out, Intuit, and Freshbook.
- Accept Pay by American Express, 2 years old, It now cost $30.00 a month for the service
- WePay is a new payment method, which allows give you the option of letting your customers pay the fees or you'll pay them
Both are good options and both have a free version. I've come across so many payment options in my quest for the best one. Most of my clients are die heart Paypal Customers and I am not, so I offer a variety of option. Click on the name it will take you to their site

Re: Payment Options
Another option, rather than Paypal, is Propay. I have been using it for my other business as an Independant Consultant for the last 6 months, and have not had any problems with them so far. I think once I am officially 'opened' for my VA business, I will stick with Propay to process credit cards. There is a yearly fee with them as well, but so far I haven't had any issues.

I tried Propay about two years ago. I found it to be very good, but the fees were high. After a year of using them I opted out. Still very good, good customer service. On the note of high fees another one I have tried is Alert Pay their fees are also very high. Both are great payment solutions.

Re: Payment Options
So far I have only used direct deposit into my account. Do you think its worth organising a PayPal account (or something simliar) to offer more credibility to my business?

Re: Payment Options
I believe I have finally found a merchant service account that will not charge me a monthly fee (I rarely accept credit cards, but need to offer this payment option for my clients. Although I do use PayPal, some people are not comfortable with that service. I finally found ProPay (which was recommended here - thank you) and charges only 49.95 per year with no cancellation fee, no minimum monthly charges, and reasonable per transaction fees. No other hidden costs that I can see and it came highly recommended. Hurray - I plan on signing up tomorrow!

How does one set up direct deposit for clients? Is it better, more convenient than say PayPal?

Re: Payment Options
I have been using PayPal now for some time and with several different clients/business associates. It has worked great for me and love their free invoicing.

Re: Payment Options
Right now, I have 2 clients who pay me by check, but sometimes I have to send reminders that it's not been received yet. The other 2 I have transfer to my Propay account from their Propay account, which has no fees to do that. I have paypal set up, but would love to look into the automatic direct deposit option or processing credit cards myself. I get tired of having to wait to get paid!
