Default Credit card Services besides Paypal??
Does anyone accept credit cards through their own merchant account? If so, which service and would you recommend it?

I don't personally but we have set numerous clients up with Authorize.net for both shopping cart credit card processing and standard website-based credit card processing. They utilize your business bank account and have an easy to deal with signup process. (You just fill out some minimal paperwork with your business info to get started not tons and tons of application forms.)
There is a setup fee and monthly percentage fee, but it's relative.

Their support is great too!
Hope that helps

I definitely recommend authorize.net. It works with most any online shopping cart and invoicing program you might use. It's versatile and not extremely expensive.

Create a great day!

Are there any credit card services for merchant accounts that don't require you to have a bank account of your own? I don't want to sound stupid, but I am new at this and I don't have bank accounts, for personal reasons.

I was recently told about YourPay, http://www.firstdata.com/yourpay/ though I have not signed up for it yet. Also, I am not aware of any company that sends out checks to you. I believe you need a Merchant Account to receive payments.

You have to have a bank account to have a Merchant Account.

They asked for your bank log-in information?? That's not a good sign. No one needs to have your personal log-in information to your bank account. If you've given that info out, I'd correct the situation, asap. Call your bank.

Also, as a side note, I definitely don't recommend Paypal at all for serious business. All it takes is one unhappy person to make a complaint to Paypal and they automatically freeze your account before they even investigate. That's not professional conduct; and if you have other business transactions going through Paypal, you will not be able to receive or transfer cash until their investigation is over, which could take weeks.
