One note on Revolution Money Exchange, whoever you send money to or receive money from must have an account with them. It takes approximately 2 days to transfer funds (a day sooner then PayPal). You can't accept credit card payments like you can on PayPal. If they make a paper payment to someone, there is an a very high fee to pay.

I personally like PayPal and well the fees are just part of having a service I guess. Like any business they have to make a profit too.

You might just decide to open a merchant account instead of going through something like PayPal. If so, look into Practice Pay Solutions. In comparison to PayPal's Virtual Terminal, PPS's fees are lower. They offer eCheck services with their service, too. There is also have Canadian merchant accounts.

I'm definitely going to research the revolution money exchange to see if this is a good fit for me. I do not want to start my business and then have to run into issues regarding money, that would not work well at all.

I have an Alertpay account and had my bank account verified, so now tranferring money is pretty smooth, I have had no problems with them.

Lots of great information. Everyone looking for an easy way to get paid for their business and make it easy for the client. Too bad for PayPal. I think in the begining it was a great service, but with so much fraud on the net, everything started going down hill. Such a shame. I too am looking for an alternative, I will check out Alertpay and Propay.

Several clients of mine have also used AcceptPay.com, which is hosted by American Express, but will accept other credit cards and echecks. You can also send invoices through AcceptPay. However, there is a monthly fee so it is only worthwhile for those clients who accepts a lot of payments via credit cards.

I have been using Payment Network from Intuit for quite some time now and haven't had any problems so far.

Their fee is only 50 cents per transaction no matter what amount it is.

I have not heard of them myself. I was recently notified that Quickbooks online version can now function with the same usage as PayPal. You can have a payment button online, set up links for payments, do ACH auto pays, etc. I am looking into this as we speak. I would like to eliminate my use of paypal and consolidate into Quickbooks online and am very excited about this possibility.
