Default New to E-mail Marketing-HELP
I am new to e-mail marketing for myself. I always worked for a Realtor that had there "leads" in a CRM system which had several templates for campaigns. So now I want to do my own potenial client e-mail campaigns and am having a hard time putting this procedure together. I joined mailchimp. But I don't have a list yet because I'm brand spanking new. So my questions is: Can I email a campaign to potenial clients by getting there e-mails through other sources such as the yellow pages and business cards?

Hello, go through the cards that you have collected, check to see if you have received emails from potential clients, and just think of anyone you know that would have contacts that you could sned to. You can not go through websites and yellow pages to "gather" emails, then it is considered spam. If you got the business cards from them they open the door and then if they do not want to accept your email they can choose to delete it or take themselves off the list.

I am working on my email campaign as well. I went through all the cards that I got from networking groups and events, they made contact with me at one time. I also went through my emails and took all of the people that have contacted me that may be interested in my business or know someone that will.

I did notice that Mail Chimp has a form that people can fill out if they want to be on your mailing list, so use that to get new potential clients.

Good luck.

Okay, I'm really new to the email service thing too... I had a techie who handled the details at my previous job.

Several of these services offer free accounts if you send out less than a certain amount of emails per month. My question is...and I have to remind myself that there are no stupid questions...is this count based on the number of people you send emails to or is it based on number of emails you send, no matter how big the distribution list is?

My assumption is that each person you send to is counted as 1 email each time you send them one. Am I correct?

I am using MailChimp and you are allowed 300 contacts and you can send 3000 emails a month. Every email sent is counted even when you send test emails.

Awesome! Thanks for the help Erika. MailChimp and SimplyCast are the two services I'm looking at. How do you like MailChimp?

I like MailChimp so far, once you figure out how to work the templates. I am not only using it for myself, but I just started using it for one of my clients. I am not very tech savy so I had some learning to do on how to get my information in the templates.

micarter,

do you have a newsletter? One of the best ways to start a database is to put a newsletter sign up on your website and collect emails. I know, easier said than done otherwise we'd all have tons of people on our list!

Erika, thank you so much. I knew I was coming to the right place to find answers. Once I get mine up and running, I'll let you know how it went. It may be a few weeks though, I've got to get my website finished first.

Thanks again.
