Default iContact and Gmail
Hello,

I am helping a client personalize an iContact template. I transferred the coding to DreamWeaver to make the slight revisions. When I send test messages in iContact the template looks great in AOL and Outlook but has two problems in GMail (the padding so the text doesn't push up against the left side isn't visible and the header is larger than the rest of the table.) Again, it looks perfect in other e-mail applications so I assume it is a compatibility issue with GMail.

Has anybody else encountered a similar problem, and if so, how do you fix it?

Thanks!

Kimberly, I don't know if you've worked this out by now (hope so! ) but I can tell you from experience that getting custom designed newsletters to render properly across all email clients is a bit like getting a website to render across all browsers. It just takes some tweaking of the code until the design works well in all email clients.

We always check in Yahoo!, Hotmail, GMail, Outlook... etc. etc. and invariably will find issues with one or two (usually Yahoo and GMail).

The good news is, once you solve the issue you can reuse the same template and won't usually run into future issues.

Good luck!

Thanks Tess.

I couldn't figure it out so had to completely re-create the template. Whatever I did the second time worked - thankfully!
