On Friday I sent my first newsletter to the small list of customers/contacts in my file. This morning I received my first email stating "Good Job".

It's not perfect and I am sure that I will be updating/changing as I go along.

Hi Cindy,

Congrats on completing your first e-newsletter mailing. I am in the process of creating my first e-newsletter. I have been postponing it for quite a while now. My goal is to send it out at the beginnning of next month.

Do you have a schedule? (monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly) I am leaning towards bi-monthly.

I too am just putting together my first newsletter. I do not have a following yet, but hopefully that would change soon. How did most of you obtain your list of people to send newsletters too? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Well, no I don't have a schedule yet - I know I should and stick to it, but I have been having a major case of writers block.

Oh wait that would imply I am a writer - NOT!

Keeping up with my blog has been challenging enough and adding the newsletter has actually been more than I can handle. But I did just send out my second edition today - the holidays made the content easier for me.

Hopefully, 2010 will bring more ideas and I will keep to a monthly letter then - which the pundits say is not often enough but at this point will be much better than I have been doing!

Hi Cindy, congratulations on sending your second issue out! One of the most difficult parts of starting a newsletter or blog is the pressure to publish on a regular basis.

Have you though of using some of your better blog posts, either in full or in part as content for your newsletter? Either by summarizing and linking back to the original post, inviting comments and feedback or just using the original post as a full article...

It must feel great to have this done. I know how hard it is to write. Perhaps if you put some time aside every day to do 10 or 15 minutes of writing you'll get in the habit of writing and creating new material along the way.

Congratulations Cindy! About writers block, Bernice I like your advice of writing 10 or 15 minutes a day to get in the habit, this is exactly what I need to do. (Just like my devotions setting time aside everyday will get your in the habit of being committed).
