Default Finding enough content?
I am very interested in starting a newsletter, but I'm worried that I won't be able to come up with enough content to keep it going. Any suggestions about the newsletter?

Maybe you could start it as a quarterly newsletter. That would only put you putting it out every 3 months.

Caliann,

There are plenty of ways to find content for a newsletter. You don't need to write every article yourself. In fact, just one article would be fine. The rest of the newsletter might consist of a product review, a Q & A, tips, advice on specific topics like social networking, add a contest, and so on. You could invite someone to write something for your newsletter and make a feature, 'guest author' or you can take a previously written article and expand upon that.

First think about what you want to place in your newsletter. Many people just allot a few minutes each to reading newsletters depending upon how many they subscribe to so keep length in mind. Then subscribe to other people's newsletters and see what they do. Is there a column you like or a format that appeals to you?

Jot down ideas for articles as the days progress. I keep a folder just for blog ideas that come up. When you are ready to write, see if any of the topics can be crafted into an article for your newsletter.

Keep google alerts alive with topics of interest and then read other people's articles. Do you have an opinion you would like to express? And finally, check your email Send box. If you have given out any advice to people or answered any questions someone might have asked of you, this can make for an interesting topic.

Janine

Caliann,

I heard about this whiz kid, Scott Ginsberg. He is a bottomless source of idea. One of his ideas about generating content (for articles) is, write down 20 questions your customers ask you a lot. Write an article for each of those.

Combine that with Serita's suggestion, start with quarterly newsletter. You would then have enough articles for a while. And when you're more ready, you can move it into monthly, or even bi-weekly newsletter.

Great ideas! Wow, thank you. I feel much better. It still may take me a bit to get into the swing of it, but this is a fantastic jumping off point. Thank you again!

I like these idea's. Newsletters are a bit of a concern for me too. I am hoping that once you get going on a newsletter it all starts to flow.

Good luck with yours.
