Default To Ezine or not to Ezine?
I've been doing the traditional newsletters and emails to my clients, I haven't done very much research on the ezine but can anyone tell me if there is a difference between the regular newsletter/emails and the ezine? Is there a special software/website to use to create the ezine to make things easier?
Thanks,
Gayle

Hi

I think what you might be asking about is newsletters like through Constant Contact or IContract, etc. They still go out via emails but use templates. I use Constant Contact myself. I absolutely love it. It's easy to use, templates are great, and it makes it so send it out. Now if I was more consistent in sending it, I've have it made! It also makes it easy to add to your site, the signup form.

Hope this helps and is what you were looking for.

Hi Gayle,

E-zines and email newsletters are very similar. E-zine is short for email magazine, so an e-zine is typically longer than an email newsletter (or e-newsletter). An e-zine might contain two articles and a few mini sections (like A Resources or Recommendation section, or maybe a Tip of the Month section), while an e-newsletter might just contain one article. If you'd like specific examples of e-zines and e-newsletters, just PM me and I can send some over to you.

As far as setting up an e-newsletter or e-zine, you would first need an autoresponder program (as Diana mentioned) - I personally use iContact and have been very happy with it, but I've also heard good things about Constant Contact too. Then you would choose between either a text e-newsletter or HTML e-newsletter. If you go with a text e-newsletter, you would just type out your content in the autoresponder program and send it off. For HTML newsletters, you can either use the free templates that come with most autoresponder programs or you could have a designer create one specifically for your business (I chose to go that route because it ties in with my branding ). There's really a lot that goes into getting started with an e-newsletter or e-zine...so this is just the tip of the iceberg. There's much more to it than I can get into here, but please feel free to PM me if you'd like me to point you toward some more free resources to help you get started.

Best wishes!

Thank you very much. I have been sending out enewsletters for a little while but I was using my excel spreadsheet with the contacts and merging into a word document and emailing. Years ago I had an issue with my internet provider as they only allowed you to send out 150 emails per hour - otherwise they would flag you as spamming and cut your internet access off for 1 hour. This is when I was using outlook and putting my contacts in a distribution list (this was about 2 years ago). Sending emails to customer was painful this way. Recently I started using ChimpMail and what a difference, I don't spend hours emailing anymore. Technology, ain't it great
Thanks for your help,
Take care,
Gayle
