Default Email Signature
I don't like a whole lot of information in a signature because it becomes cumbersome when replying to an email thread over and over, making the thread too long to traverse through to the beginning. Further is of my personal opinion that too much info in the signature is overload and many of the designations people use are useless to the reader anyway. With that said, I would like to put together an email signature with my name, my business name and website address.

What have others done to create their email signatures?

Thanks,
Jan

In most email programs you can set it up to where you have one signature for sending emails and another for replies and forwards, or not at all.

I use my full signature for sending emails and a shorter version for replies and fowards.

Thanks...I did a search before I posted this question but I must have missed it. I read the thread and there is no real answer; it's subjective.

I'll just do name, Company name, website address and tagline. Right now I am using my cell phone as my business line and until I get a business line, I'd rather not have that all over the www for now. It's on my website if anyone wants to call, but I suspect most folks will email me.

Thank you.

I'm glad you said this! I totally forgot about the options. I'm really going to have to look into this - thanks!

I use a full signature for regular emails and a shorter one (or none) for replies.

Having a good signature can be a an effective (and free!) marketing tool. I've contracted two clients and numerous inquiries and connections through my email sig!

I also use my full signature (name, company name & web address). For replies/forwards I use my name and web address.

I have a small font noting "The highest compliment we can be paid is a referral. We would be happy for you to share your positive experiences of our services with others. Please contact us if you wish to submit a testimonial for our website." which for me is advertising as well. Not sure yet how effective it is but I like the idea that my clients know how to thank me when they are happy with the service I provide. Food for thought in amongst the other comments

I use my name, company, phone number, email, and website for my first mailing and then my name and website for my forwards and replies.

I love the idea of putting the request for a testimonial. Another idea would be to request a referral. Thanks for the idea.
