My experience with email marketing has been with the use of sending out a newsletter to those who have subscribed to a client's list. If it is done in a way that does not seem pitchy, people tend to forward the newsletter and in turn, more folks sign up for the newsletter. Giving you more potential clients to market to...

I use iContact and AWeber. AWeber gives you more tacking options so that you can really see where your traffic is coming from. So, if you have opt in forms on all your social media accounts, AWeber will let you know which sites the traffic is coming from when a person signs up. It has other cool features as well.

What works for one may not work for others. It is ok not to try everything out there.

My two cents.

Hi guys

I'm new here, but just wanted to add. I have used vistaprint email marketing - It is quite good although you do pay a small sum a month, but you can do newsletters or target e-mails etc. Although people do hate getting mail they don't want, you may still hit the right person and get business!

Ok, here is my two cents worth. I strongly believe in email marketing and have clients that I do it for. Although, we don't purchase lists, but either ask prospects or clients if they would be interested in receiving newsletters, product information, etc or have them sign up at the website. I do not pay for emails sent. Waste of money! I have a CMS that allows emails to be sent out one at a time (and tracks it) , I pull my distribution list, add context plus any attachments and BING they are gone - one at a time. I like to upload the newsletters to clients websites -- have a link in the email to the letter and track it through the site information. Works well.
I would never send email to prospects that do not want it or have not signed up for it because I agree that the email box gets pretty full.
I hope this makes sense.

Adding my 2 cents worth!

Listening (reading!) how everyone feels about their overloaded Inbox, I would say the secret to email marketing, is hitting the right note and getting people's attention - the very first time!

For me that would be a mixture of witty comments, free information (sharing something helpful with no added sales pitch) and imagery/branding.

Maybe try your idea on a friendly audience (your own free email contacts) and get feedback before buying a targetted list?

I have been toying with the email marketing tactic. I have my CAN SPAM laws together but I am worried about the whole "going into the junk mail" factor

Does anyone know exactly what the rules are regarding sending mail, and when it is considered unsolicited?
