Hey ladies. The topic of holding your real estate license as a VA would be great a new thread topic.
But, I too, hold my real estate license here in MN, and have not found it to be a hindrance to my VA business at all, but a great benefit because I've been able to assist my clients in a way that other unlicensed assistants or VAs can. I'm very upfront about the benefits of me being licensed, as well as the fact that I hold a very high ethical stance to both of these businesses and that there is a strong expectancy of privacy and confidentiality.
I have clients within the same brokerage that holds my license, but I also service clients from several other brokerages. The perceived risks involved in working with a licensed agent to handle another agent's real estate business seems to be overshadowed by the far greater benefits of working with a licensed assistant. I find that my experience and knowledge of this industry, the market in my "main" territory, the most common systems utilized by agents in our area, coupled along with the latest and greatest tools and systems that I've learned as a REVA from other VAs across the nation, have had a profound effect on how I can, and do positively assist my clients in their day-to-day business. It has even helped me to help them in meeting new business goals.
Again, I hold myself very professionally and to high ethical standards, and therefore have never had any issues, but rather grateful and appreciative clients in the real estate industry. I really think it depends on how you present yourself and your business to prospective clients. And, it helps if you have some good reviews from past/current clients in the same field.
Has anyone else had a positive or negative experience?
