Default Constant Contact
For those of you who use Constant Contact. I'm new to it and was wondering about the graphics.

I've sent a test message to myself, another assistant and my client. It is a newsletter with graphics. We are trying to open the test throug Outlook and we need to right click to see the graphics. Is this because of our mail program or is there something in Constant Contact we need to do with the newsletter before it goes out?

I did talk to CC this morning and she told me we need to tell our recipients to indicate CC as a "safe sender". I was just wondering if she is 100% correct.

Thanks for your help!

Lori,

A few questions...does this only happen in Outlook or does this happen in web-based emails such as yahoo? Does this problem only occur in CC or for all images you have in Outlook?

Do you get an info bar at the top of the Outlook message asking to download the images? If so, then you will need to change the default in Outlook to receive images:

On the Tools menu, click Options.
Click the Security tab.
Under Download Pictures, click Change Automatic Download Settings.
Clear the Don't download pictures or other content automatically in HTML e-mail check box.

Let me know if that works.

Jan

Hi Jan,

It seems to only happen in Outlook and I know it's a security thing. I was able to view the images when I sent it to a yahoo email account. I guess they'll have to click on their security settings. My client thought there was a way we could send so they didn't have to do that.

Thanks so much for your help!

Lori,

I think you may find that most people actually have it set to automatically receive images...at least that has been my experience.

If you think it will be a problem...not sure if this is an alternative for you but if you can save the newsletter as pdf to the client's server, you can provide a link to that newsletter with a comment about copying the link into the browser in addition to sending the actual newsletter via CC.

One more thing...CC doesn't require that opt-in emails go out to the subscribers but Aweber does. So when you add a name to a subscriber list, an email goes out asking them to white list the address and confirm opt-in. This often helps with the successful receipt of newsletters and give folks a heads-up to confirm the incoming address as well as receiving images.

Jan
