Question You've Been added to a client's Roster and...
So you've talked with a client and they say that they will work with you when work comes in and you're added to their roster or "team."

A few weeks go by maybe even a month and you haven't heard anything. You start to wonder if maybe the client has forgotten about you but you're ready to work.

How do you approach the client and say, "Hey I'm still here, I wanna work. Do you have anything??"

Hi Rhonda,

If that much time has gone by, my guess would be that they have put you on the back burner. Revisit the client on a follow up email/call and reiteriate your services.

I wouldn't make this a hard sell call but just a reminder of how you can benefit them.

I send mine a casual email at the first of the month. I usually just say "Hi, I'm just checking in with you..." or "I'm working on my schedule for the next couple of weeks and wanted to check to see if you have anything you wanted to add..."

I have a few that have tons of work, they are just slow at getting it to me. So, I send them a reminder email every week or so reminding them that I am waiting on information from them and give them a list of what I'm waiting on.

I'd look at it like temping. Check in once a week just to keep your name in front of them and let them know you're still available. Don't make it a hard sell, but maybe email them an article about their business (particularly if it's something new that you can help implement) that they might be interested in and add a little note saying "I thought this might interest you. Looking forward to working with you!"

I think that maybe I've been placed on the back burner too. I spoke with this client in February and she said that she was building a team for work that would begin coming in this month. She said she would add me to her roster and once the work starting to come in she would contact me. So I waited...

Thanks for the suggestions ladies! I'll try contacting her and see what happens.

I'm in the same boat with a potential client that I had two phone conversations with.

I'd be put on the "roster" - wonder if it's the same person?
