Default Where do most of your new clients come from?
So I'm curious... I have a theory but let see if it is true. For all you VAs out there, where do your new clients primarily come from? It will be interesting to see if there is a pattern! Plus I think if we get enough VAs to answer we all could learn something pretty interesting! Feel free to vote and share experiences and comments!

Referrals for me. That is why I am such a big fan of networking, whether in person or virtually. I also apply to the RFP's that are posted if it seems a good fit.

Referrals for me too, however they are not all from clients. I get a lot from word of mouth for those who have heard me speak or met me at an event and gotten tips from me.

I also get inquiries from here too. Two of my last inquiries found me because of this very forum.

I had to pick "other" because when I ask callers where they found me the #1 answer is from the YP book (#2 is referrals from current or past clients). Just in the past several months, though, I've started getting calls/e-mails from people who found me through a Google search. I can see this way is starting to become more prevalent which is why I'm spending a lot more time now working to make sure my online presence is there and easy to find.

My biggest source of clients is definitely the QuickBooks ProAdvisor website. I've had quite a few clients find me there.

It used to be that all of our new clients came from referrals from existing clients but in the past year we've been getting more and more inquiries and new clients as a result of projects we've worked on (someone has seen the project/site/app/software and gotten in touch).

I chose other because now it is pretty much a 50/50 split of past clients and networking. When I started out, though, it was mostly from direct mail (postcards).

It's a 50/50 split from referrals from clients and from larger companies that have heard of me online.
