Sometimes I will also add an action-item to a follow-up email such as "May I have your permission to add your name and address to my e-newsletter list?" This can get the potential client to answer you rather quickly and even if it doesn't turn out to be a client for now, despite having the contact, it puts you in their foreground when your newsletter does pan out. Sometimes this works and sometimes it does not. But I feel, 'why not?' because they may not sign with me anyway so what do I have to lose?
Clearly, for me, one of the most frustrating portions of being a VA, and I wrote about this in my
blog is doing the marketing and the consulting only to find they don't want to sign up or they want to wait a few months. It's the nature of the beast.
If this does turn out to be a 'dud' for now, simply move on to the next. You must be doing something right if this one contacted you through Twitter.
Good Luck!
