Default What's the first thing you do with a new client?
OK, once you've found someone interested in working with you, how do you handle the new client? What's the first thing you do? I've heard about letters of agreement (contracts) and welcome kits. Is there anything else that needs to be taken care of before work begins? I'm working on finding my first clients right now so I want to be prepared when it happens.

Thanks for any advice.

First, I schedule a phone call with them so I can determine their needs and get a feel for them and whether or not we would be a good fit. Once we decide to proceed, I email them the contract and invoice for the deposit. After I have received the signed contract and deposit I schedule another call to get more details about the project and get started. After that most of my contact with clients is via email.

I, too, do pretty much the same as Rebecka. If I'm working with a local client, which is seldom, I'll schedule a meeting at their office in place of the initial phone call. I take my welcome kit and any other materials I feel we might need. BTW, I never meet clients at my office.

What's a welcome kit and is there a place where you can view a sample contract?

Here's a link to the forum post on Welcome Kits http://www.virtualassistantforums.co...lcome-kit-2173

There is a sample contract in the Document Library
