Re: What to bring when meeting a potential client
Hello
Here's a few items I would bring: Business cards, services document, a word doc with a little about you and your busines [ethics, how you got started] and a contract.
I don't ususally meet with clients face-to-face, but those are few suggestions to start with.
Hope this helps

Re: What to bring when meeting a potential client
Hi,
I usually will meet the clients with the below items in my folder:
- business cards
- fridge magnets (if you have these as business cards can very easily get misplaced)
- copy of a blank service agreement so when they ask what your business rules are, they can take it home with them (i personally leave it as a blank template and then the come back to me when they have had time to read the full document in their own time)
- a few print outs from my webpage eg services page, why choose a VA, testimonials etc
you never know if they are meeting with numerous VA's, so I try to give them the information that they can go away with and get a clear understanding of what my business offers before trying to sign them up. Especially if they do meet with more than one VA, they could be forgetting some incredibly important points about your business if they are just relying on their memory or written notes.
If you have shirts made up with your logo, always wear one of these to the meeting. The more someone sees your logo, the more likely they are to remember you.
Hope this helps
Brigette

Re: What to bring when meeting a potential client
Hi
Good tips!
What I normally do is provide two portfolios. Just a two-pocket folder with my business label on the outside. (I have a bigger one made for the outside). Inside I have a introductory cover letter (that I tweak for them, but it says primarily the same thing each time), my bio, services, samples, price sheet, any major media I've gotten that would impress, and then testimonials. It also has my business card and magnet too. And if there's something that would be specific to them, I would include it.
The second copy is for me. In that copy I have the agreement. If it appears to be going in my favor I bring it out. I'm not sure why I actually do it that way, but it just feels like I'm not pushing them and once we get to the agreement point, I have it. I'm sure it's just as good to have the agreement in their copy.
I also usually have extra copies too made up, just in case someone joins the meeting. That's happened before. When they are available in your briefcase you look on top of it.
Good luck!!!

Re: What to bring when meeting a potential client
Thank you all so much for your ideas. I met with 4 people and booked two, the others will review things and will get back to me by the end of the week. Again, thanks a bunch.

Re: What to bring when meeting a potential client
Hi Karla
Great news that you signed up the 2 people straight away. Just a friendly reminder, if the other 2 people don't get back to you, make sure you follow up, as you never know how busy they have been and may not have gotten around to contacting you yet. If you follow up atleast you show professionalism and they will appreciate it - so much business is lost by not following up!

Diana Ennen,
Great advice- thank you.
I am no where close to obtaining any clients but I'll keep everyone's "words of wisdom"
in the backof my mind, when I do!
