Default First client
Okay I'm freaking out a bit. I think I've just landed my first client. How do you get past the thoughts...is this for real or a scam?? How specific to you request them to be about their needs from you? It sounds like this client just needs me to do general office stuff...a little now and hopefully more in the future.

I guess I'm freaking out because it all seemed too EASY. He found me on the web emailed me what he was looking for and asked general questions about my equipment and such. I emailed him my rate and asked him a few questions. And then that was it ...he was asking where to send my retainer.

Is it really that easy??? Any words of wisdom to calm me down!!!

Thanks!!!

Angie

Hi Angie,

First of All, Congratulations on your First Client(hopefully)!

Did you and this potential client not discuss exactly what projects you would be working on? I would say you need to contact them and find out specifics. I never start with a new Client without knowing EXACTLY what they are expecting out of me. And also letting them know what I expect from them as a Client.

As far as it being a scam... Have you googled this person or company's name? Or spoke with them via phone?

Hope all goes well and Wishing the best of luck

Congratulations!!

I do agree with Kena. If you have any doubts, Google him.

I would also really have him outline the basis of the work and get it all in writing. Make sure to draw up your contract and have it signed!

Make sure you have good communication with him and throw a few more emails his way discussing projects, how you are going to receive them, timelines, etc...Just make sure you have everything in order and again...you get that contract signed before you begin any work!

Yeah for you!!!!
