Default Building a strong rapport
Being virtual and often not ever meeting our clients, it's really important to build that rapport with your clients. Not only does it make the working relationship so much better but it makes it easier to ask for referrals, make changes to contracts, raise your rates etc.

I found this article on Freelance Folder and thought you all might benefit from reading it too.

What do you think?

Thanks for this Kylie
I've always liked the 'underpromise and overdeliver' philosophy (mentioned in the article) - although in this consumer-driven society it can be difficult to get out from under the client's need for an A-Z breakdown of features vs. cost.

I actually had one client ask me for a ROI (return on investment) 'report' on a website he wanted redesigned-but he wasn't selling anything on his website (and even so) - it came down to really being able to keep the lines of communication open, keeping the client excited about the intangible while not promising anything in particular...one of the most challenging contracts we've ever won (and ultimately, the most lucrative - well worth the extra effort).

Thanks for the link. Kylie

Clients are our bread and butter, and it is always better to keep them happy. I think up-dating our clients every few days -if a long project- to every day for shorter projects is extremly important. It helps the client feel part of the project thus they are happy and we can get on with the project at hand.
