Networking Tips!
I just finished my free class from ivillage ilearn on networking. The last course included some good tips I'd like to share with you! After a networking event, contact any possible clients no later than two days after the event.

Introduce yourself.
Refresh the person's memory by recalling where you met.
Create a transition to the business purpose, including a need that the customer mentioned during your networking meeting.
Set an appointment, offering two options.

I hope this helps! I actually have two networking events later this month that I found through meetup.com. I'm very excited and now know exactly how to follow up! I do recommend the ilearn classes. They are free and very informative! They also include quizzes and assignments at the end of each class.

Great tips, Janice.

I usually email new people that I met after the event just to say "hi, it was nice meeting you" but I never arrange a meeting, that will be something I must do in future.

Thanks.

Thanks Janice, It's great to see you so excited and enjoying your networking. I must say I am more of an on-line networker as I am still too comfortable at home. I was invited to join a group but they meet on the other side of town at 7am once a week! Afraid it's winter over here and I ain't getting up at that time for a chat and coffee when I can stay in bed for an extra hour hehehe Enjoy yourself and thanks for sharing the tips, much appreciated!

I haven't really networked before so I'm nervous but excited at the opportunity. One group is called "Fab Women Work From Home" and the othe is a small business networking group. I'm hoping to make a few contacts they both meet monthly but they happen to be a day apart from each other. Hope I have some good news to share afterwards!
