Default Networking - Follow up etiquette
Hello! I attended my first networking event Monday night and enjoyed myself, even though I could only stay about an hour.

I handed out business cards and received cards. Now I'm wondering if I should follow up with everyone I connected with and if so, what do I say to them? Can I send them an email telling them it was nice to meet them? Thanks in advance!

Always follow up! If you have a brochure, attach it to the email if you have their address. Depending on the crowd, sometimes sending via the post office is a good way also. You never know if someone else might be seeing the brochure when it is by mail. Another thing to note is that if you remember a specific comment you had with them or know something about their business, make a reference to it. I always carry a pen with me and make notes on the back of the person's business card to help me remember.

Definetly send a note or something but remember don't be too pushy. Your goal is for them to remember you and keep contact.

I also make notes on the back of business cards and include those when sending my follow up so it is more personalized towards that contact.
