Default My 1st Networking Event
Good Evening.

I am attending my 1st networking event at the Christian Chamber of Commerce. However, I do not have any business cards and just got a website up and running.

What can I bring? I was thinking about creating some postcards using Publisher to hand out.

Also, how should I introduce myself and my business?

Barb

Barb,

I just recently went to my first networking event at our local chamber. It was really great! I did not have anything either. If you have time you can get some great FREE business cards through VistaPrint.com. That's what I did. I got $250 for FREE until I can get my design and LOGO ready. Which I have been working on for sometime now. I have a LOGO guy working on beefing up my LOGO once I get that done I will have some custom business cards printed.

When I gave my little 'blurb' I was so nervous, but I practiced a little before I went. It did not come out exactly how I wanted, but I got two new contacts from the event and they said I did great on it.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy your networking event.

Rhonda,

What did you say? I am trying to think of my 30 sec commercial but everything I say sounds a little phony to me.

Well, I ended up saying something like this,

'Hello everybody! I am Rhonda Holscher of Rhonda's Virtual Office. I offer virtual administrative assistant services, and I'm looking forward to getting to you know all of you.'

I wanted to say something like this,

'Hello! I am Rhonda Holscher the owner of Rhonda's Virtual Office. I am excited about being here! This is my first networking event and I look forward to getting to know all of you and learning from you. I offer virtual administrative assistant services to businesses just like yours and would love the opportunity to share more with you about my services. Rhonda Holscher, Rhonda's Virtual Office'

Hope that helps! Just be yourself. That really is the most important thing.

If you're event is coming up sooner than you can get Vistaprint cards done, you can also just run to OfficeMax (or the like) and get some business cards to run through your printer, no need to do anything fancy until you get your logo set and order "official" business cards, but this way you'd have something to hand to people with your contact info. Just a thought.

I would prefer to get a business card than a postcard (or worse yet, nothing) if I met someone at a networking event and was interested in their services.

I would suggest business card. You can get them made at office depot or office max and their not that expensive.

I would also suggest that you hand out business cards. I keep a whole file of business cards that I've received and when I need help on something, I just look through the file.

Good luck on your networking event.
