Default Most effective networking plan?
Can someone tell of how they've made lucurative connections through networking? That's one of my resolutions and thus I joined this board. It appears you are better off to network with others.

Part of where and how you network is determined by what services you offer and who you want to market yourself to. It's best if you figure that out beforehand and then focus your efforts directly in those areas. For some VAs they get the most out of networking in person (offline) and others find that networking online and increasing their online visibility provide the biggest paybacks. Personally, I don't have enough time to do network online and offline, so I focus my efforts to be primarily online.

I also don't think that we necessarily think of our networking efforts as making "lucrative connections" as much as it is about getting seen, getting heard and generating possible leads to clients who might want to work with us.

Finding and creating good quality, long term relationships with clients will pay off for you more in the long run than short, one time projects. Focus on who your ideal client is and then go to where that client might be.

Kim's advice is so relevant. I agree too that it's important to know where to focus your energy and then channel your efforts directly at longterm clients.

The most important motive of a business plan is to find out whether your business idea has a chance to become successful or not. Although preparing a business plan is often an extensive and intimidating task. Nevertheless, the business owner gets a new perspective by the end.
