Join Your Local Inventors' Club/Forum
Hi Gals & Guys!
Here's a tip that might get you an extra avenue of new clients.
For some time now, I have been working with a client who has an invention that he wants to market. A few months ago he mentioned to me in conversation that he was attending a local Inventors' Club, where he meets up with other inventors and they discuss their respective inventions and exchange ideas for improving them, marketing them, etc.
Well, I got to thinking that I might be able to provide the same type of assistance to these other inventors that I have been providing to my client. So I asked my client if I would be able to come along to the next meet.
He said, "Yes," and explained that I would need to sign a non-disclosure agreement when I got there. That was no problem, as I have a similar non-disclosure and confidentiality policy in place in my company T&C's.
Anways, when I got to the meeting everyone took turns round the table say what they had to say, if anything, about their invention - progress, where it was at, etc.
When it came to my turn, I introduced myself as a Virtual Business Support Specialist and explained the sort of services I had been providing my client (who was also there and had already sung my praises). I received a very positive response from all round the table and one chap approached me afterwards to request my services.
So, my message to all my fellow VA's is this: Check whether there is a similar inventors' club or forum in your locale (just Google it) and then see if you can attend. You never know, there may well be an inventor who is floundering and needs help with marketing, back office support, building a website or other issue that you have expertise in.
(Oh, and if you have a success story in this area then let me know)
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Jason
