Default Hosting a Learning Seminar
At one of my networking meetings last week I was talking about Business Contact Manager. A member had mentioned that maybe I could bring in a computer and show them how to use it. This got me thinking!

I was thinking of having a Seminar on Outlook and Business Contact Manager in my area. I could create a learning packet on PowerPoint for them to use during the seminar and teach them the basics and share a few helpful tips on Outlook and BCM. I figured I could charge $5 to $10 dollars for the seminar to cover the costs. I also have two different networking members that would allow me to use their space for it.

What do you all think, is this something that I should pursue further? I think I could get at least 5 to 10 people to sign up for it.

I am really looking for honest feedback from anyone willing to give it, so any thoughts, recommendations, or critisims would be appreciated.

I am also working on a webinar on another topic --

My plan is to use PowerPoint presentation that can be downloaded as the take away from the session which will include links to relevant info and such.

Although we should not discuss pricing here at the forum - I do believe your plan is price too low. You must incorporate your time, experience and all the other factors as you normally would for any other service into your pricing.

Also, when something is priced to low the percevied value is also low and could reduce your number of attendees.

Check out pricing for similar training sessions and price accordingly.

Good luck - let us know how it goes.

Thank you Cindy, I was told the exact same thing from an accountant in my networking group today who just did a seminar on Quickbooks.

Hi Erika, I think it is a great idea. Cindy is right about the cost of the seminar, but the idea is great. This not only gets your name out there as an expert on such matters but may get you referrals as well. I think it is a smart way to market yourself too. Let us know how it al goes and good luck!

Hi Erika,

I think its a great idea. If you are looking for a good website that offer webinars for free try Vyew. I have used it and it's great. And it's totally free.

Erika, I am going to go on a different (and sounds like not such a popular) tack here and tell you I think you might want to consider doing it for a low fee or for free for a couple of reasons.

1. You want the experience
2. You need the experience

If you already have the experience, then charge what you want, but if you need it, this is an easy training ground for you. You will get that feedback and see if there are any areas you need to improve upon - if any.

Is this is for your networking group, or is this for a larger audience? If for your networking group, have any other members given a seminar and what was their pricing?

Good luck on this and let us know how it turns out.
