Hello! I was wondering if anyone out there has heard of BNI International Business Networking? It appears that they have regional chapters pretty much all over the world and hold meetings and networking events. Has anyone ever attended one of these? I'd love to hear back from anyone who has. Just thought it might be a great idea for networking and referrals .

Patty,

BNI is quite well known. One of my friends is a District Director for this area. You are required to attend weekly meetings, pass referrals, and engage in active networking. I believe you can miss a certain number of meetings each quarter, but a chapter should have a list of substitutes that you can call and they can take your place for that meeting.

Some VAs have great luck with these meetings and others -- not so much. I think it all depends. But you can visit a chapter a couple of times before being required to join.

Thank you, Kyle and Janine, for your input on this organization. I'm not sure I would want to commit to attending weekly meetings, but it certainly looks like it may be worth a try -- at least going to one or two and exchanging business cards. I also heard that there is a steep membership fee -- yikes -- not sure I'm in any position to afford that right now either! I will post my experience next week after I've gone to the meeting. Maybe that may help someone else out there that needs information on this organization. Thanks again, guys, for your help.
