Default Is it a good idea to network before I have my business license?
I currently can't afford to get my Business License, but I was wondering if it was a good idea to still attend network conventions, meet and greets?

I just want to be educated.

Diane,
I think it's a good time to be out their meeting new people and making new contacts. You can never have too many. You will learn something from all of them. It's always a good idea to be building your database. Networking events are also for your benefit of having contacts to refer others.

I agree with Mary. My advice to new VAs is to treat your business as if you're already in business, regardless of what phase you're in. If you plan to work X billable hours on your business each day then you should be working X hours on your business *now* - networking, marketing, research, learning new skills, etc.

This is a perfect opportunity for you to get out there and start living the entrepreneur mindset.

Always take advantage of every opportunity to network. Don't let not having a business license stop you - those are details you can always work out after.
