Hi everybody...I've been experimenting with this as well. It makes perfect sense that if a company needs an administrative person, then a virtual admin would save them time, money, etc. Virtual Assistance is an untapped solution for companies, but power is in numbers, and if we all try to educate the companies out there about the cost savings between hiring an inhouse employee vs. partnering with a Virtual Assistant (independent contractor), we may find a whole new niche for VA's. I've heard people say they've tried their local area but nobody was ready for a VA yet, but the thing is all VA clients are local to somebody! We just have to educate them that they can work virtual with an assistant just as efficiently as if they were onsite, and save them money in the process. Just my two cents..... :-)

I did try sending emails out to job posts several years ago and never got a nibble. If someone has done this successfully, I'd like to know about it.

Do you list an objective section on your resume and if so, do you make it a marketing pitch?

I have used Craiglist just recently and sent out my proposals to companies that were in need of what I could offer from home. I received several responses, but have not closed any prospects from this as of yet, but I am going to keep on using this method as it gets others interested enough to get back in touch with me.

I'll have to try this too....sounds like a great idea! Maybe it'll work maybe it wont. I'm afraid the area and region I'm from wont work but it's worth a shot. Nothing to lose right?

Hi All

This is another great offline networking idea to try out. I will also be checking my local Craigslist for help wanted adverts for VA services I can do from home and approaching the advertiser accordingly.

I agree totally. Nothing ventured, nothing gained and there's nothing to lose by having a go.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Regards
Ishaka

I'm wondering if targeting Human Resource professionals at companies who hire administrative personell would be beneficial?

Hi Norma - I'm glad this question was brought up. I search CraigsList daily for administrative, telecommute, and part-time positions to assess what the needs are locally.

I've often wondered if anyone else has considered responding to the help wanted ads with VA information, now i know, some do I'm working on my response to those ads today. I'll let you know if anything comes from it.

Good post. I'm going to add it to one of my "how to get clients" bullet points, lol. And I agree, even if they don't choose you at least you made an exposure
