I hope I have placed this topic in the right Thread.

For the last three (3) months I have been on a advertising blitz. I advertised in Newspapers, social media, Craigslist or Backpage. I have given out fliers, business cards, magnets, pens and so on.

Guess what I've encountered, Business Owners and Business Professionals that don't have a clue to, "WHAT'S A VIRTUAL ASSISTANT" is. To say I was shock is an understatement. I wonder to myself if these Business owners and professionals were living underneath a rock for about the last five (5) years. I guess I shouldn't be surprise, I didn't learn about this field until about 2005.

Some told me that they have always hired employees to handle they office work or special projects. After the economy went bust they've taken some of those jobs on themself.

So I sat them down, I show them and told them what a VA can do for them at a very reasonable price. Then I had a Oprah aah haa moment; why not host a free webinar to introduce Business Owners and Professionasl to our emerging industry. So that what I am doing, I am hosting one Free Webinar each month until December 2009. I am not advertising my Business, but advertising what a Virtual Assistant can do for a Business. This the best advertisement is "Word of Mouth".

This is a great tool you have created. I understand your frustration which is why I came up with the Ezine. For those who go out and hand out flyers and business cards they can also download the ezine and put it in their welcome packet as well as leave copies with potential clients.

I have schedule a Free Webinar for Monday October 12, 2009 -- What's a Virtual Assistant. Guess what, all the 20 spots are filled, the Teleconference which is unlimited is still available. The Attendee's are Business Owners, who are interested in, "What a VA can do for their business".

Great job! I'm so excited that it went well for you!

And, just think, even though you weren't advertising your business specifically, you got 20 possible leads from it. And that's just from the first webinar!

I was thinking that I'd like to do something similar (although more of a traditional style informational workshop) around here to educate people on what the rest of the world is doing (sometimes I think they live in a vacuum...lol). Not so much on what a VA is but just the importance of an online presence and social networking (and I don't mean just throwing up a website, placing a couple of ads in papers and being done with it). I'm no expert or anything, but I know how important it is and how greatly it could really benefit this area and actually have the side effect of getting business owners to play better together.

Absolutely, some business owners and business professionals are not aware of this field and the impact it's having in the business world.

An web presence is very important, some business professional when you approach them and you're plugging your business; what would they ask you for, "Do you have a website or what's your email address". Either way you need that web exposure to capture some business professional imagination.
Add Virtual to the services you're offering and "WHALA" maybe you have made a sale.

What a great idea to build your business. Obviously, you have educated them enough that these business owners are wanting more information from you. This should grow into a word of mouth network that will continue to grow your business in the future. Good luck to you!!
