Default Use video to promote yourself
I recorded a video resume in an attempt to get potential clients to "see" me. Tell me what you think about it.
It's on youtube at:

Hi DeAnna, great video! You're rocking the red jacket - this is a great way to reach out to prospects and is such an underused medium in the VA industry - I've only seen a handful of videos similar to this.

I'm sure you know already you're going to get a bunch of flack for using the term 'resume' though...

This is awesome. And this is actually something I have been back and forth with about putting on my website. Someone so the break the ice with the client. I can be more than a voice.

Deanna....

Loved your video and you bet...the jacket is wonderful!

I think you did a great job. I could hear you clearly and you looked very comfortable during your spin. I also thought it was just enough...not too much and not too little.

Sometimes when I view videos from some VAs, there is alot of intro stuff and lag time in between the graphics, the pop out texts, the photos and it just seems like one big commercial. Sometimes I think my time is wasted. I say to myself, 'Let's get to the point already'. But with your video, I thought you got to the point in enough time and it you offered a really a nice view of who you are and what you could do.

Good going!

Janine

Great job DeAnna,

You have just opened the door for others who are toying with the idea but hesitant to take the first step.

DeAnna,

I think what you have done here is great. I am a firm believer that as business owners,in the virtual world specifically, we need to find ways for our clients and prospective clients to get to know us just a little bit better - so they know we are indeed business professionals with innovative ideas and professional backgrounds. Some do this via blogging, others through podcasting and also through video, like you have done.

Just as Lee said, you did just open the door to others toying with the idea. I have actually been wanting to start a videocast or vlog. Your video may be just the inspiration I need.

I did kind of cringe at your use of the word resume, though, but I won't go there. The important thing is you are showcasing yourself.

Out of curiosity--did it take you long (from start to finish) to compile the video? I know for me, it will probably take FOREVER, because I am my own worst critic.

DeAnna, you are the second VA i've seen that is utilizing this method of marketing. Great job! The biggest thing is that is even though you are virtual doesn't mean you can't still show your face.

Terrific video! Videos are such a personal way to introduce yourself and your business I don't know why more of us don't do it. Your eye contact was perfect. I've seen lots of videos where the person looks to one side or the other to avoid looking directly into the camera. I recently bought an Ultra Flip to make a video bio but still haven't done it. You've inspired me to quit procrastinating.
