Default Radio Advertising
I know the V in VA means that the Internet plays a huge part in our business but has anyone tried local marketing though radio?

Living in the South we have a lot of very conservative businessmen and the local talk radio station is very popular so we thought that in these challenging economic times that local companies might like the transient nature of having a temporary assistant, either physically or virtually.

Radio, newspaper, even TV - has anyone tried and what were the results?

There are a few VAs I'm aware of who have tried radio ads although I don't know how much business they got as a result - I'd be curious to know!

Here's a recent thread discussing one VA's radio spots.

Did you end up giving radio a try?

I've been advertising on radio for about 3-4 months now and I haven't gotten any business from it.

I think its to difficult for audiences to understand the concept on that wide of a scale yet.

I do plan on using it as a tool later on, but once my contract is up I am not renewing this time around.

I agree with Amanda. The VA concept is too complicated to adequately convey in a 15-30 second soundbite.

In addition, the frequency rate (number of spots that are purchased and run) has to be so high to begin to seep into people's consciousness, that i think that you will have to spend a lot of money to have any impact. Plus, the people that you are trying to reach, the busy business owner probably only listens to radio during what is referred to in the radio biz as "drive-time" (7:30-9am & 5-6:30pm), and those are the most expensive slots in radio.
