Each month I do a pocast specific to subcontracting. It seems that I'm reaching quite a few people however I'd like to reach more. Right now I'm only posting the podcast to my website. For those of you that podcast do you think using Itunes increases your traffic? Is it complicated to create an itunes account?

If you have a podcast, you should definitely be posting it to as many good quality directories as possible for the best exposure. This includes iTunes. 90% of my downloads come through iTunes. Listing your podcast in iTunes isn't too difficult. You do need iTunes installed on your computer and you need to have an account. Once you have that done, here is some information from Apple regarding feed submission to the Apple iTunes store: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1819

Also, if you aren't using Feedburner already for your podcast, I would suggest setting up your podcast feed through Feedburner and submit that URL to iTunes for your podcast. I recently created a video showing how to setup a podcast feed using Feedburner. I think it's in this multimedia marketing section here on VAF.

Just wanted to add: the reason I suggest using Feedburner is because this will allow you to monitor subscriber stats, etc. ITunes currently does not have the capability to track subscribers, downloads, etc.

I just started having a subcontractor post it on my website because I don't have time. I may ask her to start posting it on Itunes at the same time. Great tip. Have you or anyone else considered doing a tutorial on how to watch your podcast stats. What those results can do for a person?

Most of my clients have posted their podcasts on iTunes with Feedburner because they feel it gives them the most exposure and it's the most popular one.

Colette, I just wanted to add that once you submit your podcast to iTunes once, there is no need to continue to go through the steps of posting. This is because you are submitting an RSS feed, which automatically gets updated as you post podcasts.

Thanks for posting this; I actually won an iTunes gift card from this forum thanks to the lovely Darlene and I even worked out how to use it recently. This might make you laugh but even the *silliest* fear can be answered on this forum. Incidentally I treated myself to the lovely "Adele's new album 21" and have fantastic music blaring now - a nice way to celebrate being part of this forum.

I now have learnt more information about podcasts and RSS feed burner thanks again!
