I have a client who is giving a speaking presentation and she has given me a heads-up that she needs a PowerPoint presentation made. She wants to send me pdf documents to convert to a PowerPoint slide show.

Can this be done?

Thank you...so it can only be done with the purchase of a pdf converter...is that so?

You can also insert the pdfs as pictures on a powerpoint slide. Take a screen shot of the pdf and paste it onto a slide. Double-click the picture and reduce the size to 6.25" height (this makes it 'seeable' on the slide). Next, crop the screenshot to show only what you want on the slide. When you are done placing ALL slides, double-click a picture (doesn't matter which one), click on compress, select 'all pictures in document' and click ok. This will reduce the size of the powerpoint document.

I do this all the time and know it works well. Let me know if you have any questions.

It can - depending on the qty of text you are screen printing. The best way is to just look and see if it works for you...

I forgot to mention that after you crop the image you should re-size the visible portion back up to fill the powerpoint slide. Oops!

Thanks Lily. I won't know what I will receive from the client...hopefully good pdfs that I can convert in good quality. I'm passing this information on to my client because she tends to be verbose in her writing and that might affect the quality of the images. You've been a great help and I appreciate it.

You can download the full version of the software as a trial for 7 days. But it looks like you have to purchase it and ask for a refund in 7 days. Might be worth it, might not. If it gets the job done quick then I think it's worth the hassle.

Shari, I saw that trial and I passed the link onto the client along with Lily's suggestions. If push comes to shove, she may have to do the software. I think much will depend upon the content she wants to use in the slides. Too much and then the quality might not be good...so the software might be a good alternative. Thanks so much for your suggestion. I really appreciate it.

There is a program I just put on my blog today that I found that will convert a .pdf. Go to PrimoPDF and download the free version.

Hi Dawn,

Thanks. I wish to convert from pdf to Powerpoint, not the other way around. Does this program you suggest do that? I didn't see that it did that.

You can convert a PDF to Word document with PDF converter software. Then once you have the Word document, you can copy and paste your information into the PowerPoint slide show.

I tried using FREE PDF converters but I could never get them to work. I finally decided to go to Staples and paid $80 for ScanSoft PDF Converter 4 Professional. It is a lot of money but it's worth it and I use it a lot.

My original post indicates that I have a client who will ask me this week to convert pdf to powerpoint. It's a one shot deal right now, so I was looking for economic, preferably free, alternatives. Thanks. The free software for a one-time project is probably how I will go for this one.
