Default Using Basecamp to Manage Multi-VAs
Does anyone use Basecamp to manage your team of VAs? I am just trying to set it up and wondering what the best process is for this. Can anyone enlighten me?

What would you like to know, Alyssa? I've been a participant with Basecamp, not an originator, so I don't have experience setting it up, but I do know it's very useful if you use it properly.

Alyssa,

I am using basecamp now with a client. I am not a multi-VA but like Mary, perhaps I can help with a question.

Basecamp is cool for managing projects. You could set it up so that each VA is their own project or you could create different projects and give diff VAs access to each project so you can assign tasks, give them access to that projects files and maintain messages for that project with the VA working on it.

I use it with clients and with other VAs that have helped me with projects. There are some clients who love it and find it great for managing projects with me. They can assign tasks and send me messages or files and it's all in one place.

You can sign up for the free version and see what its about before paying for a version with additional space and features.

There aren't really any tips or tricks. Basecamp is very simple and straightforward to use. It's meant to be that way. My suggestion is to just sign up for an account and check it out.

I've used Basecamp and it is very easy to use. Just takes a little bit of time to understand the tabs. It's a good system.

Just like any other program you need to have a learning curve for your team. Which sounds like you're understanding of. Maybe so your whole team can get familiar with the program you could set up a mini test project so they can get familiar with using it. One of my contractors had me put together a screen tutorial of ours to show the team members, that would be one option.

It's also possible that some of your team members have the basics of another PM program so can put this one into play with no problem. For example I use Many Moon and it's really the same concept. Making it very easy to jump from one program to the next.

I tried Manymoon but did not like it. I'm liking Basecamp MUCH better.

Alyssa,

I have each client set up as a project, and the VA's on my team are set up as companies. When they begin working with a particular client, I add their company to their project - likewise when I'd like the client to be able to access it as well.

Because some clients have access, I also have a project that is set as a communications center, and another project that has all my systems in it. I'm just beginning to use the milestones to set check in points for the VA's that are on a particular project.

I can honestly say that I've tried just about every single PM site out there, but I kept coming back to basecamp.
