3 of my retainer / major clients are away on hols over the next 3 weeks and although I have things I can be doing, I just thought I ask the professionals whether you would offer yourself to another Virtual Assistant for this time, I haven't outsourced / subcontracted as yet so your comments would be much appreciated.

I would absolutely get yourself out there and ask other VAs if they need support. I work with 2 other VAs for times exactly like this and it's great as it also offers more variety in the role and has increased my skill set enormously. Work with a good VA and it's great fun too - like having a team where you have some fun as well!

When you want a holiday you either get someone else to substitute if necessary or you you can take care of business before you leave.

I have been on both sides. I try to work ahead or contact my client ahead of time and ask their indulgence. Most are willing and understand. I am also careful in how I plan, I know when I am going to be out of the office and work around that!

As long as you don't put yourself in a bind and jeopardize growing your business. Be open and honest about your availability.
